Röhnisch #iamcommitted
I enjoyed creating content for Swedish sportswear brand Röhnisch. Their #iamcommitted social media campaign gets athletes talking about their reasons for staying committed to their training. One of my biggest drives for my training is gaining a deep knowledge of my body and being able to fully explore its physical abilities and find where my limits are to push them just that little bit further. Besides, I love the lessons that come with being committed to a discipline. My years as an athlete have taught me to have patience and compassion towards my body, to stop and listen to its signs, how it feels, to know when I need rest, when I need to put more effort into strengthening or mobility work, and how to work within my abilities in order to extend them. Over the years my training has shifted from looking outwards for recognition and approval to fully turning this focus inwards and listening to what it is I want to do with my body and what direction I want to take my training in. I understand the importance of having awareness of what is going on inside of my body and mind, how this can change from day to day and how to work mindfully and with respect for my body rather than training it into submission with a rigid training plan. I am now able to know when I am feeling stressed or tired and I am aware that’s not a great place to be when you’re throwing yourself off walls. One of the most important skills we can develop as parkour athletes is knowing our bodies’ limits, knowing when to step away from a challenge and having the confidence to say “No I can’t do this” - yet.
All of the photos were taken by Kie during a couple of training days in Brighton. Very happy with how they turned out so I felt like sharing them on here.
